Lunar Missions

NASA, OKB-1,ESA, JAXA, CNSA ,ISRO all had set thier eyes on moon and attempted many times to reach there. Through hard work and patience thier missions got successful they have send thier satalites/rovers/men over moon

The First men on Moon

Apollo 11

 

Although many attempts have made by manned spacecrafts to go to the moon,  Apollo 11 was the first to succeed and commander Neil Armstrong with pilots Buzz Aldrin and Michel Collins became the first men to step in the moon.

The Apollo 11 was launched by NASA from Kennedy Space Center on July 20, 1969

 

So far 6 Manned moon landing has occured and all six of them are Apollos (11,12,14,15,16,17)

Luna 1

launched by OKB-1 of Soviet Union

 

Luna 1 also called as Mechta was the first space craft to reach the vicinity of the earth but was unable to land on the moon. Launched from Semyorka – 8K72 on January 2, 1959

Later in September 12, 1959 Luna 2 made a successful impact on the moon 

Chandrayan - I

Chandrayan - I Launched by ISRO(Indian Space Research Organisation) on 22 October 2008 was India's first attempt to reach the moon and successfully reached the Moon's Orbit.
 

Eventhough scientists have assumed of the prescence of water on the moon but it was Chandrayan I that confirmed the Information

Chang'e 3

(China)

 

Chang'e 3 soft-landed a rover on the Moon on14 December 2013.

SELENE or Kaguya

JAXA (Japan)

 

SELENE or Kaguya was launched on 14 September 2007. After successfully orbiting the Moon for a year and eight months, the main orbiter was instructed to impact on the lunar surface near the crater Gill

Hiten, Launched on 24 January 1990. At the end of its mission, the Japanese lunar orbiter Hiten was commanded to crash into the lunar surface and did so.
